Cambridge in Summer is a sad place to be in. Students go home for holidays and it becomes... quiet. Looking at JBS, a place once bustling with 150 MBAs... now left only a handful of 3-4 who still faithfully go to the syndicate room. It is too quiet. To me, my studies in Cambridge has just about ended. I had no mood to do my individual project.

All this was not supposed to happen, or at least according to my plans. I was due to start work on 1 Jul with DPWN. But the day came and gone, and alas my German work permit was still pending approval -- since 6 June! The wait dragged indefinitely and became a toil on my soul - depressed, lonely and regretful.

I can still vividly remember the day, Fri 11 July @ 13:17 when the email from Ms C. Luhmer of rsb-relocation arrived in my inbox:

"We spoke to the authorities again - unfortunately they cannot give an estimate. We totally understand your situation but please bear with us that it is not our decision, it depends on the employment office and foreign office in Bonn.We will keep on investigating and will let you know about any news."

My room license was already extended once from 30 June till 13 Jul and with this, I decided - That's it! No feeling like a prisoner not knowing how long more the wait is going to be. I'm going home!

Bought my air tix off lastminute.com (Thanks Humberto!!) to fly home the next day! 670 GBP for return-tix. Ouch!
